LOCAL REALTOR® EARNS PRESTIGIOUS GRI DESIGNATION
Leslie M. Cunningham, a Realtor® with The Thatcher Co., Inc. and member of the Amarillo Association of REALTORS®, Inc. was recently awarded the Graduate, REALTOR Institute (GRI) designation by the Texas Association of REALTORS®. The designation is indicated by the initials “GRI” following the REALTOR’s printed name.
Cunningham was awarded the designation after completing over 95 hours of classroom instruction and examinations, covering subjects such as contract law, professional standards, sales and marketing, finance and risk reduction. Courses are taught by leading real estate instructors from around the state.
The GRI program is offered through the National Association of REALTORS® and administered by the Texas Association of REALTORS®. Graduates complete three 30-hour courses in specialized subjects such as contracts, finance, professional standards, agency, marketing, and implementing technology to improve their business. Roughly ten percent of TAR’s 80,000 members have earned their GRI designation.
The Institute is designed to educate practitioners about local, state and national real estate practices that affect them, their clients and customers. The designation indicates to the public that the individual has obtained a professional educational foundation on which to base the services they provide. Only members of the REALTOR organization may earn the GRI designation. The REALTOR Institute is more than twenty-five years old and has graduated thousands of REALTORs nationally.
The Amarillo Association of REALTORS®, Inc. is one of 1,800 local associations of REALTORs that comprise the National Association of REALTORs, representing over 800,000 real estate professionals around the country.
Leslie McCleskey Cunningham is a native of Dalhart but called Amarillo home for over 30 years. She is a 1986 graduate of the University of Mississippi majoring in Banking and Finance and Managerial Finance. Leslie is a sustaining member of Junior League of Amarillo and has enjoyed years of community service where she has served on the boards of many organizations including Panhandle PBS, Susan G. Komen Foundation and Amarillo Museum of Art.
The Thatcher Co. has been involved in most all aspects of real estate including Commercial/Developing/Farms & Ranches and New and Existing residential properties.. For the last 15 years the company has concentrated on buying and selling residential properties for clients in and around Amarillo.. The Thatcher Co. has been located in the same location in the Wellington office complex at sixteen hundred Kentucky since1976.
